Reading List: Byzantium

  1. Shaw, Carol, “The Costume of the Byzantine Emperors and Empresses”
  2. Hilsdale, Cecily J., “The Social Life of the Byzantine Gift: The Royal Crown of Hungary Re-Invented”
  3. Nikoltchev, Dilian, “The Church Law and The Civil Law in Byzantium: Two Parts of One Legal Order (Legal Schools)
  4. Bergstein, David, “The Mese: Main Street of Constantinople”
  5. Krueger, Derek, “Between Monks: Tales of Monastic Companionship in Early Byzantium”
  6. Papaioannou, Stratis, “Michael Psellos on Friendship and Love: Erotic Discourse in Eleventh-Century Constantinople”
  7. Stahl, Alan M., “Coinage and Money in the Latin Empire of Constantinople”
  8. George, Demetra, “Manuel I Komnenos and Michael Glycas: A Twelfth-Century Defense and Refutation of Astrology”
  9. Savvides, Alexis G. C., “Acropolites and Gregoras on the Byzantine-Seljuk Confrontation at Antioch-on-the Maeander (A.D. 1211). English Translation and Commentary”
